Case Study

Maryneal Windpower Project

The 182-megawatt Maryneal Windpower Project will be located in Maryneal, Texas. Sprint (now part of T-Mobile) signed a 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for the wind energy generated at the project. The agreement will enable Sprint to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and achieve approximately 30% renewable energy for its total electricity portfolio. Maryneal will provide enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of more than 54,000 U.S. homes and will reduce carbon emissions equivalent to removing more than 96,000 cars from the road annually.

Nordex Acciona will supply 38 4.8-MW wind turbines for the site. Wanzek Construction is the contractor for the project.
