“REC Solar brings experience and professionalism to this project. We’ve been pleased by the team’s efforts at working collaboratively with us and with the community that will host it.” – David Bissel, KIUC President & CEO
Kaua`i Island Utility Cooperative sought to decrease dependence on oil and decrease energy costs by utilizing solar power.
REC Solar completed construction of the second-largest solar electric system in the state of Hawaii, generating enough clean energy to meet 5% of Kaua`i’s annual needs. The system is now generating electricity at a cost of about 12.5 cents per kilowatt hour, compared to about 24 cents by means of burning oil.
